چکیده

In conventional data envelopment analysis it is assumed that the input versus output status of each of the chosen performance measures is known. In some situations, however, certain performance measures can play either input or output roles. We refer to these performance measures as flexible measures. This paper presents a modification of the standard constant returns to scale DEA model to accommodate such flexible measures. Both an individual DMU model and an aggregate model are suggested as methodologies for deriving the most appropriate designations for flexible measures. We illustrate the application of these models in two practical problem settings. 2006 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

Classifying inputs and outputs in interval data envelopment analysis

Data envelopment analysis (DEA) is an approach to measure the relative efficiency of decision-making units with multiple inputs and multiple outputs using mathematical programming. In the traditional DEA, it is assumed that we know the input or output role of each performance measure. But in some situations, the type of performance measure is unknown. These performance measures are called flexi...

Evaluating the efficiency and classifying the fuzzy data: A DEA based ‎approach

Data envelopment analysis (DEA) has been proven as an efficient technique to evaluate the performance of homogeneous decision making units (DMUs) where multiple inputs and outputs exist. In the conventional applications of DEA, the data are considered as specific numerical values with explicit designation of being an input or output. However, the observed values of the data are sometimes imprec...

Efficiency of DMUs in Presence of New Inputs and Outputs in DEA

Examining the impacts of data modification is considered as sensitivity analysis. A lot of studies have considered the data modification of inputs and outputs in DEA. The issues which has not heretofore been considered in DEA sensitivity analysis is modification in the number of inputs and (or) outputs and determining the impacts of this modification in the status of efficiency of DMUs. This pa...

A new approach based on alpha cuts for solving data envelopment analysis model with fuzzy stochastic inputs and outputs

Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) is a widely used technique for measuring the relative efficiencies of homogenous Decision Making Units (DMUs) with multiple inputs and multiple outputs. These factors may be evaluated in fuzzy or stochastic environment. Hence, the classic structures of DEA model may be changed where in two fold fuzzy stochastic environment. For instances, linearity, feasibility a...

Common weights for the evaluation of decision-making units with nonlinear virtual inputs and outputs

In this paper, by investigating the common weights concept and DEA models with nonlinear virtual inputs/outputs, we introduce a model for evaluating the decision making units with nonlinear virtual inputs and outputs based on the common weights.

Weak Disposability in Integer-Valued Data Envelopment Analysis

Conventional data envelopment analysis (DEA) models normally assume all inputs and outputs are real valued and continuous. However in problems some inputs and outputs can only take integer values, also, both desirable and undesirable outputs can be generated . In this paper the effect of undesirable outputs in integer DEA model is discussed. The proposed model distinguishes weak disposability o...
